in die westelike dele van die land het groot verliese gely
weens ondergemiddelde opbrengste as gevolg van droogte
(

Grafiek 5
en
6
op bladsy 21), het
produsente in die 2012-produksieseisoen winste gemaak. Dit was
hoofsaaklik as gevolg van goeie opbrengste wat behaal is.
BEGROTE INKOMSTE- EN KOSTE-ANALISE
– 2014/2015-PRODUKSIESEISOEN
western parts of the country have suffered major losses due to
below-average yields because of droughts (
Graphs 1
and
2
on page 20). The eastern parts of South Africa, on the other
hand, experienced a relatively good production year with a
rather wet summer (
Graphs 3
and
4
on page 20).
Winter grains
According to the actual production cost figures for wheat in
the Southern Cape and Eastern Free State (
Graphs
5
and
6
on page 21), producers realised profits in the 2012 production
season. This was mainly due to the good yields realised.
BUDGETED INCOME AND COST ANALYSIS
– 2014/2015 PRODUCTION SEASON
Producers must acquaint themselves with the production costs
of maize for the coming season and evaluate its profitability
before the maize is planted. They must decide whether the
Safex price is adequate, and Grain SA compiles detailed crop
budgets for the homogenous production regions of South
Africa for this purpose.

FISIESE INKOMSTE- EN KOSTE-ANALISE
Somergraan
Historiese werklike inkomste- en produksiekostesyfers is uiters
belangrik om die winsgewendheid van enige graangewas
te evalueer.

op bladsy 20 beeld die langtermyn
werklike produksiekoste, opbrengs en die wins/verlies-situasie
vir Noordwes Provinsie, Noordwes-Vrystaat, Oos-Vrystaat
en KwaZulu-Natal sedert 2000/2001 uit. Dit is duidelik dat
produksiekoste voortdurend styg. Hierdie stygings op ‘n jaar-tot-
jaar-grondslag is redelik hoog en produsente word genoodsaak
om innoverend te dink en hul produksiestelsels aan te pas sodat
mielies steeds winsgewend verbou kan word. Mielieprodusente

PHYSICAL INCOME AND COST ANALYSIS
Summer grain
Historical actual income and production cost figures are
of the utmost importance when it comes to evaluating the
profitability of any grain crop.

the long-term actual production cost, yields and profit/loss
situation for North West, the North-West Free State, Eastern
Free State and KwaZulu-Natal since 2000/2001. It is clear that
production costs are increasing constantly. These increases on
a year-on-year basis are fairly high and producers are forced
to think innovatively and adapt their production systems in
order to still cultivate maize profitably. Maize producers in the
