Hands-on involvement in grain
handling, cleaning and processing
F
acet Engineering has been involved in grain handling and pro-
cessing since its inception 26 years ago. Over this period they
have designed, manufactured and supplied an impressive
range of grain conveyors, cleaners and processing equip-
ment to the South African market and its neighbouring countries.
Their expertise is a culmination of over 30 years of direct, hands-on
involvement in this industry – from the designing, manufacturing,
installation and commissioning of the machines, to complete turn-
key plants.
They have their own in-house design team, which utilises the lat-
est computer-aided draughting system, as well as its own modern,
well-equipped manufacturing facility just west of Johannesburg.
Being an independent manufacturer, they are able to ensure the
quality and consistency of all the equipment they supply. The grain
handling systems they offer, which often incorporate bins and hop-
pers, use a selection of their wide range of conveyors. These include
drag chain conveyors, bucket elevators, screw conveyors and belt
conveyors, moving capacities of up to as much as 150 tons/h.
Grain cleaning is catered for with the company’s own range of clean-
ers and pre-cleaners with capacities from 3 tons/h up to as high as
125 tons/h. Their eight models of machines have to date been suc-
cessfully used on a wide variety of grains and cereals. These include
maize, wheat, sorghum, soybean, millet, sunflower, peanuts, rice
and beans. Facet Engineering’s grain processing service includes
machines which separate and grade grain according to its weight,
size and colour. These are imported machines for which they are
the agents and include densimetric tables, destoners, graders and
electronic colour sorters to name but a few.
The company’s expertise extends beyond supplying individual ma-
chines, to include complete turnkey plants in which they undertake
the design, manufacture, supply and installation of all the equipment
required. This includes the ancillary equipment such as storage bins,
hoppers and steel support platforms, right through to the bagging of
the finished product.
A perfect example of all this, is a recently completed chicken feed
plant installed in a neighbouring country.
