Another milestone for

Eqstra and SDF tractors

CHERYL LANGBRIDGE,

Eqstra Industrial Equipment

P

roviding 60 years of trouble-free

operation is a milestone in any in-

dustry – a milestone which Eqstra

Industrial Equipment (EIE) is cele-

brating this year, with Same Deutz-Fahr

tractors supplied to a producer in the North

West Province’s Hartbeesfontein in 1955,

still hard at work to this day. Such longevity

is typical of this best-in-their-class brand

for which Eqstra Industrial Equipment is the

licensed distributor in Southern Africa.

Eqstra Industrial Equipment supplies the

agricultural industry with a range of trac-

tors renowned for reliability, precision and

efficiency. The range includes Deutz-Fahr

and Same tractors from 38 kW to 200 kW.

“Our client list, which ranges from indivi-

dual producers through to co-operatives

and large agricultural estates, includes

SJ Roets Boerdery and Estramadura Boer-

dery in Limpopo as well as Umbhaba

Estates in Mpumalanga, operating out of

three geographical locations. A current

focus area of ours is also the small emerg-

ing farmer and we are working on projects

to support this very important developing

sector,” says Eqstra Industrial Equipment

product specialist, Mr Peet Swanepoel.

Same Deutz-Fahr’s massive investment in

technology ensures that it is able to sup-

ply the industry with state-of-the-art and

reliable agricultural vehicles that maximise

productivity, fuel economy and safety, and

among other features, has a four-wheel

braking system. Two new models in the

Explorer and Frutteto range specifically for

tight budgets, have been added to Eqstra

Industrial Equipment’s offering. All compo-

nents are manufactured and assembled by

Same Deutz-Fahr, giving the company com-

plete control over quality assurance. With

a sound reference list of Same Deutz-Fahr

machines in operation throughout the coun-

try, Eqstra Industrial Equipment is position-

ing itself to accommodate new trends in the

market.

“We are breaking new ground with our

rental facility, which is becoming increas-

ingly more popular in the tight economic

conditions that prevail in South Africa. A

recent contract to supply nine units for a

silage contractor, is just one example,” adds

Swanepoel.

Under newly appointed general manager,

Mr Brendan Londt, Eqstra Industrial Equip-

ment’s agri-business is looking to move

even closer to its customers and invest in

its people by increasing its dealer network

and upgrading its technical call centre.

And to back this up even further, an on-

line customer satisfaction survey is also

being launched.
