“Effects of Synovex C implants on growth rate, pelvic area, reproduction,

and calving performance of replacement heifers.”

Journal of animal science

292-299.

How much is an extra 8,6 kg per calf worth

to you?

đƫ

Suckling calves implanted with SYNOVEX® C

gained an average of 8,6 kg extra compared to

nonimplanted calves.

3

đƫ

At R16.50/kg for weaner calves, that’s an extra

R141.90 per head at sale time and providing a

return on your investment.

Yes, you can implant replacement heifers.

SYNOVEX® C is safe when used in replacement

heifers over 45 days of age and under 180 kg.

Always limit them to one dose and implant them

early on, around 2 - 3 months of age. They will

gain an extra 8,6 kg of weight without affecting

reproduction.

4, 11

đƫ

If you don’t know which heifers will be saved

as replacements, implant all of them so you

don’t forfeit gain on those you sell.

đƫ

If you do know which heifers will

be replacements, don’t implant the

replacement heifers because you won’t

profit from kilograms you don’t sell.

Additional gain won’t disappear

or

affect future performance

Gains received during the suckling

phase will not adversely affect future

performance in the feedlot. Average

daily gains in the growing and finishing

phases for cattle implanted as suckling calves were

similar to cattle that didn’t receive implants as

suckling calves.

5

The weight gain achieved by using

SYNOVEX® C during the suckling phase carries over

through succeeding stages of development.

5

No adverse effect on quality.

In two studies, cattle implanted with SYNOVEX®

C as suckling calves had nearly identical quality

grade, marbling, tenderness (shear force) and

overall consumer taste panel satisfaction scores

when compared with those not implanted as

calves.
