08 Dec 2011Organised agriculture in South Africa has taken a step towards unity. Representatives of industry organisations, farmers’ unions and agri-business have formed a task team that will bring fruition to the idea to create what is currently being referred to as the Agri Unity Forum.
The task team that was due to meet again early in December 2011 to determine what the structure of this forum should look like and how it should function, consists of Jannie de Villiers of Grain SA, Aggrey Mahanjana of the National Emergent Red Meat Producers Organisation (Nerpo), Dr John Purchase of the Agricultural Business Chamber, Dr Johan van Rooyen of the Standard Bank Centre and Nico Kruger of the Agricultural Processors Association.
