13 May 2011SENTIMENT over prospects for the global economy nosedived yesterday, with emerging markets and metals losing their sparkle, and the rand shedding value for a fourth successive day.
The currency tumbled against the dollar on renewed concern over Europe’s debt crisis, which prompted investors to sell riskier emerging-market assets. The rand was the worst performer among more than 20 emerging-market currencies.
