05 Aug 2011As the International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC) announces plans to formally initiate anti-dumping investigations against Brazil, the Brazilian poultry association is doing damage control in South Africa.
ITAC will investigate the imports of whole birds and boneless cuts from Brazil, but the SA Poultry Association (SAPA) has asked it to also investigate a range of other products, including leg quarters, mechanically deboned meat (MDM) and offal. But speaking at a seminar in Sandton on 19 July, the Brazilian Poultry Association (UBABEF) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) reaffirmed their commitment to developing a trade partnership with South Africa.
