Producers in Mpulamlanga are progressing well with their maize plantings, although the season is once again later than normal. Conditions in the Eastern Free State are generally very dry and minimal hectares have been planted to date, within the optimal plant window. Rain is expected in the western parts of the country, after which producers will start planting summer grains. The occurrence of rain remains one of the determining factors determining how much and what crops producers will plant.
