A

ccording to the idiom, a picture is worth a thousand

words. In this case the picture is worth R10 000. The win-

ners of the 2016 Grain SA/Sasol photo competition was

announced at a special handing-over ceremony during the

Grain SA NAMPO Harvest Day in May this year. The theme for the

Grain SA/Sasol competition of 2016 was ‘Agriculture in full colour’.

Tinus Pistorius from Nigel was selected as

winner in the April competition and received

a R1 500 in cash for his photo ‘Mistige ogggend

op Holgatfontein’.

Committee), Richard Krige, Hendrik de Waal (winner), Jan Rheeder

(third) and Hennie de Kock (senior manager: Marketing and Sales,

Sasol Fertilisers and Base Chemicals) in front of the winning photos,

that were exhibited at the handing-over ceremony. Franci Swart (insert)

got second place in the competition. She could unfortunately not

attend the handing-over ceremony and the Grain SA Executive

Committee member for her area, Richard Krige (second from left),

received her price money on her behalf.

Congratulations to Marina Vorster from Lichtenburg whose photo

‘Eens ‘n stoor...’ won her a cash prize of R1 500.

Wessel Wessels from Brackenfell’s photo ‘Naghemel’ earned him a second place. He said the photo

was taken at ‘oom Giel se plaas by Spitskoppen Ost op Keetmanshoop’.

In third place is Anne-Marie Seale from Ifafi with her photo ‘Ou kraal’.
