DS KOOS KIRSTEN
WOORD
Uit die
i
ons land veel minder uitdagings sal hê as ons alle politici sou
verban.
Here bekend moet maak.
rustigheid in ’n mens se gemoed.

Farmer Development in the
I
t was with great pleasure that the
Grain SA Farmer Development team
learned that they were invited to attend
the Annual AgriSETA Excellence Awards
gala dinner early in October last year. The
longest serving Farmer Development co-
ordinator, Mr Jerry Mthombothi from the
Nelspruit Regional Development office, was
nominated to represent the team.
At the glittering occasion he was delighted
to find that Grain SA was to be honoured
with two prestigious awards:
Recognition as a leading commodity
organisation.
Best governed rural development pro-
ject after AgriSETA intervention: Duku-
za Study Group.
Grain SA Farmer Development sincerely
thanks AgriSETA, who’ve been partners
with them for many years now, for both of
these awards. The department is humbled
and thankful that they are seeing the fruits
of their investment in their projects and
trust that many years of partnership still lie
ahead.
The contribution to these successes
made by a dedicated team involved in the
Grain SA Farmer Development Programme,
lead by Ms Jane McPherson, is acknowl-
edged with gratitude. At the same time, they
honour the farmers they work with. These
hard-working individuals make the most of
every opportunity they are presented with
to learn and grow.
With partnerships like these Grain SA
Farmer Development can make a difference
to national and household food security
levels through the establishment of viable
grain farming enterprises. This is achieved
by bridging knowledge gaps and equipping
farmers with the necessary skills and appro-
priate training in the many diverse aspects
of farming operations and management.
